Species Major species: Carralia brachiata (Lour) Merr. Other species: C. euryoides Ridl.; C. integerrima DC.
General Characteristics Sapwood: Not sharply differentiated from the heartwood. Heartwood: Yellow brown or red brown with a distinct orange tinge. Texture: Coarse and uneven due to the presence of large large rays.; grain straight, interlocked or slightly wavy. Weight (Air-dry): Wood moderately hard, moderately heavy to heavy ranging from 42-58 lb/cu.ft. with an average of 52 lb/cu ft. Durability: Not tested but indications show that the timber would be moderately durable under exposed conditions.
Structure Growth ring absent. Vessels few to moderately numerous, medium-sized; solitary, in radial groups and tangential multiples of 2 to 3, tyloses absent; white deposits common. Wood Parenchyma abundant, in aliform confluent bands or just the aliform type as some species; also in short apotracheal lines bridging the rays. Ripple marks absent. Intercellular canals absent.

Uses The oak-like figure of this timber makes it suitable for interior furnishing, decorative purpos, panelling, furniture manufacture, parquet flooring, sliced veneers and other fancy articles.
