General Characteristics Sapwoodlightcr-colourcd, but only moderately differentiated from heartwood; colour of heartwood deep pink-brown or red-brown; planed surface not particularly lustrous (generally rather dull); often with modest streaky figure on radial surface; texture moderately fine and even; grain interlocked; hard to moderately hard to cut across grain; air dry density ranging from 400 to 1075 kg/m³ on an average about (25 to 67 lb/ft³); 720 kg/m³ and (45 lb/ft³): Durability of the timber varies from durable to non-durable depending on the species.
Structure
Growth rings generally absent but occasionally concentric layers of dense fibres may occur which simulate growth rings.

Burning splinter test : Splinter burns to ash.
Uses Nyatoh is very popular as a furniture and solid door timber. It is suitable for high class decorative interior finishing such as panelling and partitioning. Other uses include strip and parquet flooring, ceilings boat decking, rotary and sliced veneers, plywood and pallets.
