This paper studies the relationship between timber harvesting, soil erosion and soil physical properties in a hill dipterocarp forest in Peninsular Malaysia. The amounts of surface runoff and soil loss were determined and the changes on soil physical properties resulting from the construction of a logging road and skid trail were assessed.
