There are about 600 different rattan species belonging to 13 genera are found in the world. Of this, about 107 species occur
naturally in Malaysia, although only about 30 species are
utilized and exploited commercially. Based on the National Forest
Inventory 4 (NFI-4), the survey showed that Calamus manan (rotan manau) has the highest percentage of abundance compared with
the other types of rattan.
